Want to get your matric? We can help you…
I don’t need to tell you about the importance of matric on your life and your future, right?
So let’s skip all the reasons and discover how you get your matric certificate.
The adult matric is the National Senior Certificate (amended). It exists to assist adults who do not have matric to get their matric qualification (Grade 12 Senior Certificate).
It has exactly the same value as the normal matric you would have written while at school. Once you have successfully passed your six subjects you are credited on the national qualification framework (NQF) with 120 credits. Your National Senior Certificate is issued by the Department of Basic Education.
When applying for a new job or a promotion your National Senior Certificate is recognized by all the relevant authorities and can be verified against the National Qualification Framework.
What do you need to pass your matric?
To get your matric you need to complete 6 subjects on the Grade 12 level. Two of the subjects must be languages (very important). One language must be Home Language.
Grade 12 Subjects
*All Grade 12 Subjects are available in English and Afrikaans.
Grade 12 Languages
* All languages consist of 3 papers that you will write. These are grammar, literature and poetry. Literature and poetry have prescribed books for different years, so depending on when you are writing your language examinations will determine which prescribed books you will need. We supply you with the printed literature and poetry books as well as past exam papers. Literature and poetry does not have teacher guides and are self study. The past exam papers will assist you in completing your studies. The grammar section comes with a teacher guide and additional materials on the online learning app.
You may register to start your studies at any time during the year, the more time you give yourself the better you can prepare for your exams.
The Senior Certificate Grade 12 (amended) exams are written in June/July each year. You have to register to write exams with the department of education in your province during January each year.
Pass Marks Required for Adult Matric
Please remember you do not have to do all subjects in one year, you may split them up over time. Depending on the time available to you, decide how many subjects you want to do per year.
For instance you can choose to do 2 subjects per year and complete your matric in 3 years, or do three per year and complete in two years, and if you are feeling up to it, do all subjects in one year. The choice is entirely up to you.
It is very important that we speak on the phone and make sure you choose the right subjects and ensure you comply with all the entrance criteria. We also need to go through the process of how you will learn, where to get help, how to proceed, make sure you have old exam papers to test yourself with and ensure you have all the details you need.
How Your Studies Work
Candidates that qualify to write the Senior Certificate (as amended) examination will write the examination in June/July. Candidates writing the Senior Certificate (as amended) will be exempt from School Based Assessment, and this implies that the examination in the subject will constitute 100% of the final mark.
Examinations will be administered at designated examination centres determined by the Provincial Education Department. The examination may also be offered by the independent assessment bodies accredited by Umalusi.
